The Peace of Uusikaupunki in 1721

The Great Northern War broke out in 1700, the Russians occupied Finland gradually beginning from 1710. The period of Great Hate started and it lasted until the year 1721, when the Peace of Uusikaupunki was concluded. In the peace treaty nearly all of the Karelia of Käkisalmi as well as that of Vyborg were incorporated in Russia. The territory was called the Old Finland.
